Bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in their prestigious Connoisseurs Choice range, this Ardmore 2004 is a stunning single malt whisky matured for 20 years in a refill American hogshead. At cask strength of 53.6% ABV, this limited edition whisky – of which only 170 bottles are available – offers a powerful and refined taste experience. The maturation in the hogshead cask gives this whisky rich layers of citrus and honey, combined with tropical fruits and the gentle warmth of a wood fire.

Tasting notes:
- On the nose: Bright and fresh, with sweet lemon and orange peel mingling with floral aromas of gorse. A delicate undertone of dark honey and tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple adds a rich sweetness, while the scent of wood fires lends an earthy warmth.
- On the palate: A layered combination of sweet and spicy flavours. Rich white chocolate notes melt together with dark honey and hints of caramelised tropical fruits. The freshness of citrus remains, accompanied by a subtle, smoky hint of campfire ash. The powerful influence of the refill hogshead cask provides a beautiful balance between sweetness and spicy depth.
- Finish: long and warming, with a lingering impression of wood fire and spicy spices, such as nutmeg and pepper. The fruity freshness of citrus lingers in the background, while the softness of honey and white chocolate concludes the taste experience with a refined sweetness.
