The name Casarecce literally means “homemade” and refers to the rustic, artisanal shape of this pasta. Originally from Sicily, these short coils have a coiled shape that is ideal for holding thick sauces or creamy combinations with vegetables and cheese.
Belpasta Casarecce is carefully produced by extrusion through a copper die, which gives it a slightly rough texture that perfectly absorbs sauces. The semi-wholemeal composition not only gives it a rich, earthy flavour, but also provides extra fibre and nutritional value. The 12-hour drying process guarantees the pasta’s firmness and prevents breakage during cooking or serving.
Usage tips:
- Perfect for: Rich tomato sauces, pestos or stews with vegetables and meat.
- Serving suggestion: Pair with creamy ricotta, fresh basil and a drizzle of olive oil for a simple yet flavorful meal. Also delicious with a spicy arrabbiata or mushroom cream sauce.
