Led by celebrated master distiller, Billy Walker, the team is on a 'Meikle Tour' (meaning a big chase). The aim is to carefully and precisely create an unparalleled peated single malt at their home base, the Glenallachie Distillery in Speyside.
As an independent distillery, they have complete freedom to do things their own way. Every aspect of whiskey production has been carefully considered and masterfully optimized to drive the resulting aromatic and flavor characteristics of the whisky.
Meikle Toir The Original is a classic single malt that truly represents the peated quest. Made with mainland peat from St. Fergus, the flavor contributes a sweeter touch than expected from coastal peat.
With an extended fermentation time of 160 hours, almost three times the industry standard, the whiskey offers a character that is rich is in terms of flavor complexity.
Aged for 5 years in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels, American virgin oak barrels and rye barrels, the spirit has a PPM (phenolic content) of 35.

- On the nose: baking spices, burnt honey and espresso, with hazelnuts, smoked almonds and butterscotch.
- In the mouth: Sweet peat, rich chocolate and heather honey, with cinnamon, ginger and oak-smoked sugar.
