As you may have guessed from the name, Coloma is a rum that comes from Colombia. The molasses used as a base is made from two types of sugar cane and the resulting spirit was initially matured in ex-bourbon oak barrels before being finished in ex-coffee liqueur oak barrels for 3 to 5 months. This 15-year-old Coloma rum was diluted with spring water from the volcanoes of the Colombian Cordillera, then filtered and bottled at 40% alcohol.
Nose: Creamy vanilla, dark chocolate and bitter coffee, with a little baking spice.
Taste: Initially a lot of refined oak - and wood spices, with a little mocha, roasted exotic fruit and vanilla.
Finish: Long and refined, with lots of rich sweetness.
