Like the original Etsu Gin, the Etsu Pacific Ocean Water Gin is made by the Asahikawa Distillery on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. Etsu means 'fun' in Japanese, and that is the purpose of these gins.
This edition tells a story about the coastline of Hokkaido. Both in the ingredients, but also in the bottle itself. The gin bottle is made of 100% recycled glass, which can be seen by the blue-green color of the glass, which also refers to the Pacific Ocean. As a result, not all bottles are 100% perfect and may have bubbles forming in the glass or a rough 'orange peel' texture. This means that every bottle is slightly different and that each bottle is therefore unique.
Features:
With this gin, fresh botanicals such as juniper berries, bitter orange peel, yuzu, licorice root, angelica root and coriander added to sweet mountain spring water and sea water from the Sea of Japan. This creates a unique gin, described as the 'Japanese coastline in a bottle'. You will also discover a fresh but slightly salty aroma. The taste still has a distinct yuzu flavor, but this is offset by a delicate saltiness from the ocean water. The finish is smooth, silky and well rounded.
Serving tip for the Perfect Serve:
We recommend using a neutral tonic to ensure that the full flavor of the gin is preserved. In a tall glass filled with ice, add 50 ml of gin and carefully pour over 150 - 200 ml of tonic. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit.Cheers!
