Ancho chili, is a chili produced from another chili. This softly scented pepper has a dark red to almost black color. This hot pepper is an indispensable ingredient in Mexican cuisine. Ancho pepper is also one of the main elements of the national Mexican dish 'nogada', a dish with stuffed peppers.

It tastes slightly better than a 'normal' chili pepper and reminds you of dried plums.
