The subtle flavor differences in this series are guided by a variety of influences: the oak species, the local terroir and the period of natural air drying, together with the roasting, charring and barreling of the barrels. Each of these factors reacts uniquely with the GlenAllachie spirit, adding excellent texture, depth and variety.
GlenAllachie 7Y Hungarian Virgin Oak gets its deliciously sweet flavor from casks made from Scottish Sessile Oak (Quercus Petraea) from the Atlantic coast. Before being filled, the wood is air dried for 36 months and then roasted and charred to a medium level. Due to its rarity, cost and tendency to knot, Scots oak is rarely used for whiskey maturation, making this unique gem a magical experience.
