Despite this, Ardbeg 10 Years does not show off its peat; it allows the natural sweetness of the malt to dominate, resulting in a whiskey of perfect balance.

The secret behind this balance lies in the unusual spirit still, with its purifier, the only one of its kind on Islay, which makes Ardbeg truly "The Ultimate".

Most whiskeys are chill-filtered to a strength of 40%. Ardbeg 10 Years is non-chill filtered to a strength of 46%, which retains maximum flavor and creates more body and depth.

Tasting notes:
- On the nose: explosion of intense smoky fruits, infused with zesty lemon and lime, enveloped by waxy dark chocolate. Bold mint and black pepper cut through the sweet smoke, followed by tarry ropes and graphite. Enjoy the aromas of smoked fish and crispy bacon, alongside green peppers, fried pineapple and pear juice.
- On the palate: an explosion of crackling peat, followed by millions of flavor explosions: peat buzzes with zesty lemon and lime juice, black pepper splashes with sizzling cinnamony toffee. Then comes a wave of brine infused with smooth buttermilk, ripe bananas and currants. Smoke gradually rises on the palate, creating a mouthful of warm creamy cappuccino and toasted marshmallows. As the palate lengthens and deepens, dry espresso, licorice root and tarry smoke develop, covering the palate with chewy peat oils.
- Finish: long and smoky, with tarty espresso, anise, roasted almonds and traces of soft barley and fresh pear that linger.
