Quinta do Vesuvio is one of the last great estates in the Douro region to produce its Port wines exclusively through the traditional burial in granite lagoons. This iconic process, virtually uninterrupted since 1827, is still practiced today.
The estate, located in the sun-drenched Douro Superior, extends over 326 hectares with vineyards at different altitudes, from 110 to 500 meters above sea level. Thanks to these variations in altitude and exposure, the grapes are protected from excessive heat, which contributes to the complex and refined taste of the wine.
The 2022 harvest was marked by extreme weather conditions, with exceptionally low rainfall and record high temperatures. Despite these challenges, Quinta do Vesuvio’s experienced winemakers achieved magnificent results, using grapes from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Alicante Bouschet as the basis for this refined vintage.
Tasting notes: Graham's Quinta do Vesuvio 2022 opens with signature floral aromas of lavender and rock rose, followed by an explosion of ripe red fruits, with an emphasis on cherries. On the palate, minerality and fresh acidity bring vibrancy, while the ripe red and black fruits are in perfect harmony with the silky tannins. The wine closes with a seductive, long finish, which testifies to its elegance and complexity.
