Octomore 15.2 is distilled from 100% Scottish Concerto barley, harvested in 2017 and distilled in 2018. This edition features a triple maturation that adds layers of complexity: initially matured in second-fill wine and bourbon casks, and transferred to first-fill Cognac casks in 2023 for a refined finish.
The combination of peat smoke, tropical fruits, and spicy cognac influences makes this whisky a masterpiece of balance and innovation. It displays Octomore's signature elegance while distinguishing itself with a unique flavour profile that is both rich and inviting.
Tasting notes:
- On the nose: Sweet citrus opens with lime zest and lemon meringue pie, followed by toasted oak and a hint of earthy smoke. Tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple enhance the vibrancy, balanced by notes of wood spice, smoked honey, toasted bread and roasted coffee beans.
- On the palate: Velvety and rich in texture, with creamy vanilla custard, caramel, toffee and a hint of black pepper. Toasted oak, cinnamon and nutmeg add depth, while pear candy and dried apricots cut through the peat smoke.
- Finish: A distinct maritime character with waves of salty sea spray, while the warmth of peat embers lingers gently.
