This Blair Athol 7 Years is a masterpiece from Murray McDavid’s Benchmark Series. Distilled in 2016 at the iconic Blair Athol Distillery – established in 1798 and located in the Highlands – and bottled in 2024, this single malt brings a classic Highland style with a decadent twist.
Following primary maturation, this whisky was finished in a PX Sherry Cask from Ximénez-Spinola, master cask makers from Jerez, Spain. The Pedro Ximénez cask, made from Spanish oak, has added a luxurious sweetness and deep, rich flavours to this whisky, perfectly emphasising the Art of Maturation for which Murray McDavid is renowned.
At 56.9% ABV, this whisky retains its natural power and character. It is unfiltered and has retained its natural colour, emphasising its authenticity. Only 312 bottles were produced, making this dram a true collector's item.
Tasting notes:
- On the nose: Soft coffee, floral fruits, roasted almonds.
- In the mouth: Sweet malt, berry pastry, light notes of cocoa.
- Finish: Dried fruit, warm spices and a hint of oak.
