Spirelli, also known as fusilli or tortiglioni, is a beloved pasta shape that originated in Southern Italy. Legend has it that spirelli was created when a creative pasta maker twisted spaghetti around a knitting needle – resulting in a delicious spiral shape.
Belpasta Spirelli Half-Whole Wheat is produced by hand using copper extrusion, which gives it a rough texture that optimally holds sauces. The pasta is 3 to 4 cm long, ideal for both hot and cold dishes. The 12-hour drying process ensures firmness and prevents breakage during cooking or handling. The half-whole wheat composition not only offers a richer flavour, but also extra nutritional value.
