Coppa Piña Colada is a delicious, creamy cocktail made with white rum, coconut milk and pineapple juice.
Ramon ' Monchito' Marrero first created this tropical cocktail in August 1954, at Beachcomber Bar of the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The name Pina Colada literally means: strained pineapple (piña = pineapple, colada = strained). It has been the official drink of Puerto Rico since 1978.
What lends credence to its origins is the fact that coconut cream, one of the main ingredients of the cocktail, was invented in 1954 at the University of Puerto Rico, by Ramón López Irizarry.
How to serve: Pour Coppa Piña Colada into a tall glass over ice. Use a piece of fresh pineapple and/or a maraschino cherry as a garnish.
