Located at the foot of the Montagne Noir, embraced by an amphitheater overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, is the Saint Frichoux vineyard. This land, once a salty sea, is now home to Marins d'eau douce Rouge, a wine that respects traditions and nature. It is the fifth generation of winegrowers who humbly and proudly bear the nickname of freshwater sailors ("Marins d'eau douce").
The vines thrive on sandstone marl along the valleys of the Resclauze and the Ruchol, rivers that flow into the former pond of the Marseillette. This pond, which dried up in the 19th century, now provides fertile soil for the vineyard.
The grapes (Carignan, Caladoc, Marselan) are harvested at the optimal moment of ripeness and undergo fermentation according to traditional methods. This is done at a controlled temperature and with the addition of oxygen, followed by a maceration period of 15 days. This process creates a rich, balanced wine.
Tasting notes:
- On the nose: Aromas of cherries in syrup and other ripe red fruits, with a subtle hint of graphite.
- In the mouth: A well-structured wine with a fresh and round mouthfeel, perfectly balanced.
Food pairing:
Marins d'eau douce Rouge is versatile and combines excellently with a duck salad, creamy cheeses and grilled lamb. Serve this wine at a temperature of approximately 15°C for the optimal taste experience.
