Winner of the gold medal 'Best Belgian Wine 2020'
of the Association of Flemish Sommeliers.
Terroire plays an important role in viticulture. We therefore thought it would be particularly suitable to integrate the name of the hamlet 'Stuivenberg' where the wines are made into our brand name. This is how the name STUYVENBERGER BRUT was born.
STUYVENBERG winery has opted from the start to produce sparkling wines according to the traditional method. Only two cuvés are made, white and rosé, both based on the classic grape varieties Chardonnay and Pinot noir.
HISTORY
From the start, Wijngoed STUYVENBERG has been making sparkling wines according to the 'traditional method' as in the Champagne region. The base wine is refermented in the bottles and then rests 'sur latte' for at least two years.
In 2011, the first hectare of vines was planted, of which 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. These are the 2 most important grape varieties planted in the Champagne region. From summer 2019, the vineyard will reach cruising speed with around 800 cartons of 6 bottles.
All winemaking activities take place 100% on the winery. The grapes are hand-picked, pressed, fermented, bottled, refermented in the bottle and after 2 years of maturing in our cellars, degarnized or disgorged. We work as sustainably as possible. Since the start-up, chemical weed killers have never been used. Weed control is done completely mechanically.
The three cuvés of white sparkling wine from the 2015, 2016 and 2017 vintage were awarded the gold medal at the 'Best Belgian Wine' competition of the Association of Flemish Sommeliers (VVS) in 2018 , 2019 and 2020!
Stimulated by the enthusiastic comments from the VVS and our customers, it was decided to plant a second hectare. The intention remains to continue to work on a small scale in the future. We are now building a new vinification room with annex tasting room and B&B on the Stuivenbergstraat in Gooik. Opening spring 2021.

Deze mousserende wijn uit eigen streek kan zonder meer naast gerenommeerde merken worden geplaatst. Zeer lekkere en frisse smaak maar toch nog vrij zoet voor een brut. Aanrader!
